JP Morgan Corporate Challenge

For many years the 10Eighty team have been taking part in the JP Morgan Corporate challenge which usually takes place in Battersea Park. Participants can either walk, jog, or run the Corporate Challenge distance.

A global event, the focus is on promoting fitness, camaraderie and team work to employees of local businesses and organisations. Teams are organised by company or organisation, and the JPMorgan Chase Foundation celebrates the participants by making a donation to local charities.

This year the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge introduced an innovative virtual component with a run tracking mobile app, offering professionals from all industries and at every level a unique opportunity to connect, compete and have fun… virtually! As a virtual event, participants were able to walk, jog, or run any 3.5 mi / 5.6 km route regardless of location, surface or terrain.

Despite the pandemic, the event organisers expect to attract a large percentage of the normal 25,000 entrants who gather for the race in Battersea Park each year. Over 3,000 companies and 100,000 participants registered for the free event this year making it the largest virtual race in history.

For 10Eighty part of the attraction is that there is a strong community element, with J.P. Morgan donating on behalf of all entrants to the Alzheimer’s Society, the United Kingdom’s leading dementia charity. The donation will go towards funding the Society’s Dementia Advisers and could help 595 people access a Dementia Adviser over a year. Dementia Advisers help people to come to terms with a diagnosis and navigate the care and support that is available to them. They provide practical and emotional support to people affected by dementia. They offer tailored information so they can consider their future options, link people up with local professionals and services, and help them to access them.

Team 10Eighty

This year, our members logged impressive times around the 30 minute mark, significantly faster than the average 40 minute time.

Helen was fastest at just over 30 minutes, followed by Sarah, Lucy and Liz all within minutes of each other. Other 10Eighty runners had problems with the tracking app and results are awaited.

Everyone knows that running is a great way to get in shape, but it also can benefit almost every part of your body and lift your mood, the benefits are undeniable. Even short runs can leave you feeling more energized, more focused and better able to enjoy all that life has to offer.

Well done to all who took part and high five for all the 10Eighty runners.
