At the Royal Town Planning Institute, the organisation champions the value of planning in building thriving places and communities. With over 27,000 members worldwide, it supports planners at every stage of their career: raising professional standards, shaping planning policy, and proudly awarding chartered status, the highest professional accreditation in UK planning.

Management Development Programme:

The aim of the bespoke Management development programme was to:

  • Upskill all managers, so they have both the confidence and skills to manage their teams effectively and in doing so, make RTPI a truly great place to work.
  • Navigate common management challenges in line with the core values and strategic priorities of RTPI. Victoria and Rod had nine meetings, once in person and subsequently online. They agreed to set an agenda in advance around what she wanted to discuss.

Delivery & Approach

The programme ran over a period of 6 months for 18 line managers of varying skills and experience. 10Eighty designed and delivered four bespoke modules. The programme was a great opportunity for delegates to come together, share best practice and hear different views, perspectives and approaches from their peers.

Delegates undertook Strengthscope 360 as a development tool to gain valuable insight as to how others see them, how effectively they are using their strengths in the workplace, how they are managing their performance risks and how they can strengthen their own performance.

The programme was made up of four modules:

1. Managing Self

2. Managing Communication and Influencing

3. Leading and Managing at Work

4. Building a Positive Team Environment

Delegates described the programme as “Motivating, refreshing, relaxed, honest, engaging, useful, supportive, positive, informing, encouraging and enjoyable.”

All delegates rated the programme as either very good or excellent.
