They are a remote first company with office hubs in Maidenhead, UK, and in Boston, USA.
The Assignment
10Eighty’s comprehensive career transition programme is tailored to individuals ensuring that all aspects of career transition and skills training are covered, including self-awareness, creating a career plan, self-marketing and interview skills. We provide flexible support, combining discussions and webinars, enabling clients to explore choices, options and aspiration for the immediate future and to plan a longer term career vision.
After restructuring, Hayley Roberts was offered career transition coaching with 10Eighty and was assigned Urvashi Desai as her career coach.
The Coaching Agreement
Losing a job due to redundancy is always a stressful experience. For Hayley, it came just six months after returning from maternity leave, an already transitional time. In hindsight, though, it turned out to be the perfect moment to reassess her priorities and think more intentionally about what she wanted from her career, something that Urvashi really helped Hayley to focus on.
The assignment required structured, practical, and targeted coaching to help the client land a role that aligned with her skills and aspirations.
10Eighty’s Approach
Our coach, Urvashi established a working relationship with Hayley which enabled her to explore the options around her career transition and her career aspirations with regard to a new role.
Recognising Hayley’s immediate need to secure a new role, the coaching focus was on a practical, supportive, and results-oriented approach. The coaching strategy included:
- CV and Interview Coaching: This provided tailored feedback on her CV and interview performance, ensuring Hayley could articulate her value effectively.
- Interview Preparation: Urvashi conducted practice sessions, allowing Hayley to refine her answers and build confidence in performing well at the interviews she arranged.
- Networking: Urvashi also guided Hayley on how to leverage her connections effectively and introduced her to potential opportunities within her own network
- Encouragement and Mindset Shift: By keeping her motivated, this helped Hayley overcome the mental fatigue of job searching.
Within a few sessions, Hayley felt more prepared, confident, and ready to take action. The coaching process supported the client through her thought processes to ensure she was making the right decisions in line with her aspirations.
The Outcome
Coaching afforded an invaluable opportunity and safe space to pause and reflect.
Through targeted coaching and strategic support, Hayley quickly secured multiple interview opportunities. As a result:
- She received multiple job offers from well-established organisations.
- One of these offers came through Urvashi’s network.
- The position not only aligned with her professional aspirations but also exceeded her expectations in terms of compensation and growth potential.
Hayley is now thriving in her new role, and is feeling valued and excited about her future.
