10Eighty at the Global Outplacement Alliance Conference 2017

Michael Moran, 10Eighty’s CEO spoke at the Global Outplacement Alliance conference and was joined by our Head of Leadership Development Joan O’Connor for the 2-day event which took place on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 October 2017 at Guernsey’s Newport Resort & Marina in Newport, Rhode Island.

The Global Outplacement Alliance is a network of national and international career service specialists that provide ‘seamless, best in industry career management, outplacement, and talent management services.’

10Eighty has been a GOA partner since January 2016. GOA partners provide outplacement services for businesses, non-profit organizations, education-related ventures, municipalities, and other employers. They also provide coaching, career advancement, spousal employment assistance and other services to help clients advance to the next stage in their career.

This year’s conference was hosted by Peggy McHugh and Laura Poisson of ClearRock, Inc and it included many speakers including:

Sandra Long, Author/Speaker/Consultant, Post Road Consulting who looked at ‘LinkedIn for Personal & Professional Branding’.

Laura Poisson, ClearRock who spoke on the trends and statistics of GOA Partners and The Future of Outplacement, which was followed by a group discussion.

John Humphrey and Deeta Lonergan discussed the “Process for Addressing Quality Issues” and Michael led a session on membership of Association of Career Firms Europe (ACF Europe).

To add some context, 10Eighty joined ACF Europe 5 years ago and the organisation itself began over 20 years ago to bring together and represent the interests of the European outplacement industry.

A non-profit organisation, ACF Europe represents more than 100 companies in the career management industry across Europe and has strong links with the EU. Their goal is to raise awareness across Europe on effective outplacement.

In his talk Michael covered the key objectives of ACF Europe such as ‘provide a voice for the Career Industry at Government and key stakeholder level’ and ‘to provide research and project capability to ensure innovation in our sector’. He advocated that members of GOA become active participants of the ACF with a view to providing thought leadership on both a local and global stage.
